All thirty NBA arenas

Basketball's arena tour is 29 buildings for 30 teams — the Lakers and Clippers shared Crypto.com Arena for 25 years until the Clippers opened the Intuit Dome in Inglewood in 2024, which brought the count back to thirty. An 82-game season with 41 home dates makes scheduling easy, and because nearly every NBA arena doubles as an NHL rink or a concert hall, most of them sit downtown next to the things you'd visit anyway.

Madison Square Garden is the one everyone wants — the fourth building to carry the name, but the Knicks have been at the current one since 1968 and it's still the loudest room in the league. Chase Center in San Francisco and the Intuit Dome are the new money; the Warriors' building sits on the bay, and the Clippers' has a steep wall of seats behind one basket built purely for noise. The oldest are Madison Square Garden and Oakland's old Oracle, now replaced — most of the league plays in buildings from the 1990s and 2000s.

Combining with hockey

Eleven arenas host both an NBA and an NHL team, so a winter trip to Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Washington, Toronto, Chicago, Denver, Dallas, Los Angeles, or Detroit can tick two lists in one building on consecutive nights. Codes follow the franchise, and names track the sponsors. Click an arena badge or its pin to mark it visited, again for want-to-go. The WNBA arenas map covers the summer game.

Building the season around it

The NBA's schedule makes a two-city weekend easy: teams play back-to-backs, and the league's road trips cluster by region, so Boston and New York, Dallas and Houston, or Los Angeles and Phoenix can be done on consecutive nights with the same visiting team. The season runs October to April with the play-in and playoffs after, and regular-season tickets in smaller markets — Memphis, Oklahoma City, San Antonio — are far cheaper than the coastal arenas. Arenas have turned over quickly in the last decade, so a few ticks from the 2000s (the Palace of Auburn Hills, the old Warriors building in Oakland) no longer count for the current list, which is why codes follow the team rather than the venue.
